The poem, “I Want to Age Like Sea Glass”, resonates with those who love walking the beaches in search of beautiful ‘sea glass’.
With approval from the author, Bernadette Noll, this unique representation of the poem was created for display. Reclaimed roofing slates are used to create our Sea Glass Slates. The slates are cleaned, sanded and stabilizing material applied to the backs adding durability. Prior to the poem’s application to the slate, layers of various colors of paint are applied, sanding techniques are then used to bring out the underlying colors and natural contours of the slate adding depth and beauty to the poem. Applying the poem to the slate goes through aging and sealing processes as well. It is possible that during the coating, application and finishing processes some letters of the poem might become slightly faded which tends to add a bit to the ambiance of the 'aging'. |
Glass that has been collected from Lake Erie beaches is drilled and strung on wire, then the wire is wrapped to the back of the slate, adhered and covered to prevent marring any surfaces.
These are not recommended for outdoor use unless covered with protective material. Slates can also be displayed on a table easel. Each slate is a different size and weight - colors vary. No two are alike, just like the glass.

Choose a finished slate complete with sea glass, or choose your favorite background and a strand of glass will be added completing the slate display. Some customization is available. The 'blanks' can be turned in horizontal direction for some customization if desired.
