Recycled Denim Coasters

Recyled Denim Coasters

Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces a diagonal ribbing that distinguishes it from cotton duck. It originated in India and was known as dungaree before taking on the name denim. In 1873, a tailor from Nevada named Jacob W. Davis manufactured the first pair of rivet-reinforced denim pants, and they were so much more durable than any other style of pants available that those who worked outdoors couldn’t get enough of them. Davis couldn’t keep up with the demand, so he went into business with Levi Strauss & Co. and the rest, as they say, is history. It’s awfully hard to part with your favorite pair of jeans when they finally become unwearable, and our recycled denim coasters give them new life.
